Go to the local view where it just shows the embassy and look for the entrance for the on the map then walk to it. You have to walk/slide down the mountain side, but you wont die. Do that and you will find it. If I remember right, you go to the entrance to the embassy but dont go in. Go left around the side and along the wall, look at the map ...Been looking for the Stones of Barenziah, and found a complete list of all the stone's locations, however; I was "certain" I had picked up 18 on this list and I on;t have 17 in my inventory. I've double checked all of the locations again, and I know of 6 of the 7 that I KNOW I haven't got (Purely because I haven't been to those locations yet ...Not worth it. I cheated and used command controls to teleport to every area with the stones. Made for some awkward encounters, but whatever. I got it over and done with in less than 20 mins and got the stupid quest out of the way. 1.

Prior to appraisal, each Stone of Barenziah is labeled as an "Unusual Gem." Once any one of the stones are found, there will be a miscellaneous objective...Thanks mate =) Whichever ones you picked up before talking to Vex will be listed as Stones of Barenziah, the reat will still be called Unusual Stone. It's just a minor bug but doesn't affect your ability to finish the quest.
